Slippers? Shoes? Or slipper shoes?

I was wearing mine and some lady made a snide remark, "Those aren't shoes!"

TSA sucks

So I'm sitting at Syracuse Hancock Airport because I missed not one, but two flights. Granted, I was dumb for showing up way too late, but I didn't have my shit together + it was 4 in the morning.

So immediately some dorky guys cut me in line. Tell me how is that even possible? Then I'm finally standing there checking my bag and bike (BIG annoying hassle) and the Delta lady tells me, "I'm just gonna book you on the next flight... it's $50." Okay?? And then my bag was too heavy and she was like "That's going to be $75." I'm thinking "BLEEEEEGHHGH! Seriously I don't have that kind of money, I'm jobless, I've been jobless for a month, AND I'm going to be paying for two rents." So I took out my big gigantic bike lock because it weighs like 8 lbs and I ask the TSA guy down there if I would be allowed to carry it on, to which he replied "Yes."

So then I'm running upstairs, waiting in line to go through security, all frazzled. Then the TSA buttholes upstairs take me aside and search my bag (I ALWAYS GET FREAKING SEARCHED) and they determine that my lock is a weapon. Granted, it very well is, I could easily bash some guy's head in (muggers beware), but I mean that's why I checked it in in the first place. The buttholes then tell me I have to run it down to my checked baggage and put it back in my suitcase. And by the time I do that and go back through security, I missed my second flight. They had me in such a frenzy I was like hyperventilating.

Conclusion: TSA sucks. Domestic flights suck. And I effectively avoided paying a $75 overweight baggage fee. Jerks.

lazy buttpants

So the semester is (and has been) over, finally. I've pretty much been moping around for the past four weeks, and now I think I've had enough of staying in bed all day staring at the tube/randomly surfing the internet. There was a South Park episode on the other night, where they lose the internet, and it pretty much described life on South Beech Diet (the name of our wireless signal) to a T. When the internet goes out (as it routinely does), it really is a crisis.

As for the reason for my moping: I've just been kind of disenchanted by design lately. Sometimes I feel like it's a whole load of crap and it makes me want to quit school. I won't though. I just like to toy with the idea. I've been disappointed with our projects and my work, and I know I can do better, but I just have absolutely no drive to do so. Basically, I feel like I suck in every possible way imaginable even though I really probably don't and I shouldn't feel like I suck because there are many people who probably suck a bazillion times more and I thought that feeling like you suck was a phase you go through in high school.

Something inspire me PLEASE! I'm wasting away. I know I'm a creative person, but I feel like I've been trapped in this box and I can't get out.

i want this:

happiness

So lately I have just been happy. I mean, I've been stressed, I've been busy, but deep down I'm not letting anything keep me down. For real. I'm realizing that all I need to do is surround myself with positive people, and at this point in my life, I can be picky and choosy. It's actually a choice.

It was so nice to drive down to Key West and reconnect with my uncle for Spring Break. I love road trips. I think it's the best way to travel. You get to see all the scenery, stop at random places, and be your own conductor. I mean, I-95 isn't exactly the unspoiled landscape I'm talking about--I'm speaking about out west. But at least driving south, Syracuse to Key West, you're driving directly into sunshine! Definitely what I have been missing. Maybe I'm just still high off the sun...

I had my first more or less "real" interview/portfolio review with some Syracuse ID alums this past weekend. After being up all night finishing my portfolio, or more like pretty much staying up all night for no good reason, I literally ran to get it printed in the morning. And I still have shin splints. But I mean I was running uphill through fresh, untouched snow in Thornden Park, in what seemed like slow motion, at least for my tired body.

It was sad though, because the weather had been getting warmer, and earthworms were starting to come out. When I was running through the park, all the earthworms had made their way to the surface of the snow and they seemed to be shriveling and scrambling about with no escape. Poor dead earthworms.

Anyway, my first two interviews did not go too well. The first one was just okay, which was expected. But the second one, oh man! The guy kept talking and giving me advice and he was nice and all but maybe my tiredness was catching up on me but I felt like totally tweaking out! He was like giving me an extreme anxiety attack and I didn't even want to show him any more of my work. When he asked me "So what are you interested in?" "What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses?" I was like "OH GOD! What am I interested in? What are my strengths and weaknesses!" I seriously did not know the answers or how to respond. So then when it was over I ran home and cried and took a nap. When I came back to studio for my last two, they went so, so much better. I was just being myself. I am very uncomfortable with the whole selling yourself (more like whoring yourself) bullshit, but I think that maybe there are ways to do it Sarastyle. I just need to get some self-esteem, maybe then it'll be easier... and maybe I can figure out what I like and what I'm good at.
